Ebook About Book 2 of the #1 New York Times bestselling This Man trilogy. Jesse Ward drowned her with his intensity and blindsided her with his passion, but he kept her away from his dark secrets and broken soul. Leaving him was the only way Ava O'Shea could survive. She should have known that Jesse Ward is impossible to escape--and now he's back in her life, determined to remind her of the sensual pleasures they had shared. Ava is equally determined to get at the truth beneath this man's steely exterior. That means letting herself get close to the Lord of the Manor once more. And it's exactly where Jesse wants her--within touching distance...Book Beneath This Man (A This Man Novel Book 2) Review :
I wanted to like this. I read the more negative reviews and I thought some good "love" scenes would way outweigh any character flaws. But I was wrong. I hate both main characters. Full on hate. They are beyond frustrating. Jesse share NOTHING. Not a word of anything about himself. He's over the top controlling and just plain ridiculous. And Ava takes. Every single time. She just follows right along like a stupid sheep. I'll be honest, I'm only a quarter of the way through, but my frustration level with them is so insanely high, I doubt I will ever finish. Jesse irritated me in the first book, but I thought surely something of his motivations behind his insanity would start to be uncovered in the second book, yet still nothing. And Ava is too dumb to demand any answers. I'd like to understand why he's so nutso, but I don't think I can read anymore so if anyone wants to respond and spoil it for me, that would be great.I'm disappointed because I think this story had/has potential. But its been drug out for too long without any movement in the story. Its at the point of beating a dead horse. If I read sense f*** one more time or any of the other variations, I may vomit.Giving it 2 stars because some of the "love" scenes are good. If you can disregard your intense frustration with two such annoying characters, that is. The only reason I gave this book two stars is because I was stupid enough to buy this book so I could've fault the author for my purchaseSPOILER ALERTIf Jessie swore one more time and then told Ava ( love this name) to watch her mouth when she swore I was going to reach into the pages of this book and punch him in the face ...then I was going to kidnap Ava and see if I could talk her into behaving like an adult and not a victimized 12 year old. There are aspects of this series that are pretty good but the relationship between these two main characters is so immature it's just nauseating. In real life having a man behave like a stalker is horribly frightening, suffocating and negates any hope for a future of peaceful, reasonably trusting coexistence. Jessie is a selfish child and uses the uncle's accident and subsequent death as an excuse for being OUTRAGEOUSLY over the top with Ava in terms of her personal safety. His excuses are a really long leap. Any normal person would find this man exhausting ... there were times that I wanted to cry for Ava thinking she must be so exhausted and frustrated but no ... Ava apparently likes the constant double standard drama. After all this criticism ... I have read all the books in the series and kick myself for spending the way too much money. My only explanation is that I just had to find out how this train wreck ended. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DON'T GET STARTED!
